The western Carolinas and northeast Georgia are experiencing a series of scattered thunderstorms, some of which may become strong to severe, with a 30% to 40% chance of occurrence. The National Weather Service advises staying weather aware as conditions could include gusty winds, hail ranging from pea to golf ball-sized, and frequent lightning. The storms are expected to continue over the weekend with a significant temperature drop and widespread rainfall by Sunday. Not all areas will experience severe weather, but the potential for isolated severe storms remains.
