Record-breaking temperatures have been observed across various locations in the United States, with multiple areas tying or nearing historical high temperatures for January. The Grand Strand and Florence tied records with temperatures reaching 81 degrees, matching the record set in 1950. Washington D.C. also experienced record warmth, with Reagan National Airport hitting 80 degrees, Dulles reaching 79 degrees, and BWI Marshall at 78 degrees, just one degree shy of the January record. These temperatures are as much as 35 degrees above normal. Charleston set a new record high of 83 degrees, tying the all-time warmest January temperature set on January 16, 1950. Savannah broke its previous record of 81 degrees set in 1974. Sanford tied its record with a high of 85 degrees, which also matches the January record from 1975, while Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Leesburg came within a degree of their daily records. Meanwhile, Charlotte is having the wettest January since 1962, with over 7 inches of rain this January and a 3-day storm total of 2.66 inches.
