Meteorologists are monitoring a disturbance over the Caribbean that could lead to the formation of a low-pressure system, potentially bringing heavy rains to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The National Hurricane Center has identified this as the first area to watch for the upcoming tropical season, with a low chance of tropical or subtropical development.
THURSDAY 2PM TROPICAL OUTLOOK: A disturbance in the SW Atlantic is producing a large area of clouds. An area of low pressure may form north of Haiti & the Dominican Republic in the next day or so as it drifts NE. Development chances remain low with this one. @wsvn https://t.co/cWkvSdxxFg
June 1 is the official start to the Atlantic Hurricane Season, but we are already tracking a disturbance tracking northeast from Hispaniola. That said, right now there is only a 10% chance of tropical development. https://t.co/52qAMzGgnZ
The smallest of signs of what's likely to be an active Atlantic Hurricane Season: the National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of disturbed weather in the Caribbean islands for a very low chance of development. No threat the Carolinas in any case... https://t.co/ywp8DQO9D5

Interesting looking mid and upper level feature over the Caribbean this morning. Big rainmaker over water that is mid season warm already. Always have to watch for low level centers trying to form and feedback See if NHC "x's" it later https://t.co/z4tPtmks0L

Seeing some convection over the Caribbean forced by diffluent upper level winds. An area of low pressure is forecast to form as this lifts north, but it will be very sheared and probably marginally subtropical, at best. Heavy rains could be a threat to Haiti and the DR though. https://t.co/WLIjJ6MJGD
