Two tropical disturbances, Invest 92L and Invest 93L, are being monitored in the Gulf of Mexico. Invest 92L, which had been struggling with shear and disorganization, is moving inland over Florida and Georgia with limited impacts expected, including gusty winds and heavy rain. Meanwhile, Invest 93L, located in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico near the Bay of Campeche, has a 40-50% chance of developing into a tropical depression before moving onshore into northeastern Mexico near Tampico and Tamaulipas. This system is producing heavy rains, which could lead to localized flooding, particularly in areas already affected by former Tropical Storm Alberto.
Latest recon mission into #Invest93L indicates the area of low pressure has become better defined right off the coast of Tamaulipas. With increased deep convective coverage near the center, it wouldn’t take much for it to become a brief TC before it moves inland later today. https://t.co/mUEDTCkCq5
In the tropics, the latest disturbance called "Invest 93-L" is nearing the same landfall location as former Tropical Storm Alberto. While the land interaction may hamper its development chances, it still may be a big rainmaker. https://t.co/0gRYmhfVRP
6/23 7am CDT: A low pressure system centered NE of Tampico, Mexico still has potential to become a short-lived tropical depression before it moves inland into northeastern Mexico tonight. Heavy rains could cause localized flooding in the area. #AL93 More: https://t.co/NERCKLZFZm https://t.co/EdUkr2blRz
SUN 8AM TROPICS: A broad low over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico maintains a 40% chance of developing into a tropical depression before moving into Mexico tonight https://t.co/jp0eipIVvc
Invest #93L in the western Gulf of Mexico has a well-defined circulation, but limited central thunderstorm activity. Heavy rains are spreading over northeastern #Mexico in the same region soaked by Alberto. Environmental conditions do not favor intensification of 93L, but it's… https://t.co/T5S541xdDu
We also have #93L now in the BoC. So far it's rather broad, but conditions look favorable, and it has until the end of the weekend to spin up. As with Alberto the main impact of 93L will be heavy rain and possible flooding. Recon is inbound this afternoon and will give us a… https://t.co/9gl2ZExjhB
TROPICS: A broad low pressure system located over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico (Invest 93L) is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system as it moves slowly… https://t.co/J1qDFa8l22
Even after being over land for the better part of the last 12 hours, invest #92L continues to maintain a sheared/somewhat disorganized bursting pattern. A closed & well-defined low-level vortex is evident on radar and surface observations, indicative of a borderline tropical… https://t.co/x2sluYUblv
SAT 8AM TROPICAL UPDATE: Broad low pressure dubbed Invest #93L maintains a 50-50 shot at becoming a tropical depression before moving onshore into Mexico tomorrow night https://t.co/dqEqXUhcLY
Tropical disturbance 93L in southwest Gulf of Mexico monitored for potential repeat of Alberto https://t.co/u5lnMsHd5I https://t.co/pjetKk7RF1
What a beautiful swirl! Tropical disturbance 92L continues to move west toward the Florida/Georgia coast but as long as it can't keep thunderstorms over its center, it is not developing any further. Right now it looks like it will reach the coast as a small low pressure area. https://t.co/kD3pvO2jNU
The little disturbance that could. Invest 92L tried its hardest this morning, but the overpowering shear gave it a sharp haircut this afternoon. It'll be moving inland over the next few hours, with mainly spotty shallow convection to show. https://t.co/msdNFlD8YW
This is Invest 92L ⬇️ A low-pressure system that is trying to become organized enough to be called tropical before moving onshore in Florida today. Impacts are limited to gusty winds, heavy rain and high surf - watch out for rip currents! https://t.co/mqvDOgnbTK
FRIDAY 2PM TROPICS: An area of low pressure is forecast to develop over the Bay of Campeche later today and a tropical depression could form in the SW Gulf of Mexico this weekend as it drifts W/NW. @wsvn https://t.co/kV7dXk5mZj
