Really great to see Wei Yi playing more frequently, and at a very high level. His ascent was crazy and the plateau even moreso. Maybe like Vidit, their age isnโt as much of a factor as people once thought - and momentum not as importantโฆ https://t.co/G8PbmysTf4
Wei Yi! He limited his participation in the events outside of China, but remained a mighty force with a very attractive playing style. I recall his first Wijk in 2016, and he impressed back then as a hugely talented teen. Hopefully this victory will get him back to compete more!
Wei Yi has won the Tata Steel Masters 2024. While chess has skyrocketed in popularity over the last few years, this man has flown under the radar. He is the youngest player to ever reach 2700 Elo, crossing that milestone at 15 years of age. It is amazing to see him back inโฆ https://t.co/AeVv8HQRcc
