A series of legislative efforts have been introduced and passed in the U.S. House of Representatives aimed at addressing concerns over foreign ownership of American farmland, particularly by adversaries like China. Representative Finstad, a 4th generation farmer, announced the introduction of the AFIDA Improvements Act, designed to inform Americans about the risks posed by foreign investors owning U.S. farmland. Concurrently, Representative Feenstra of IA04 highlighted the passage of his bill to ban China from purchasing American farmland, urging the Senate and President Biden to enact it into law. Representative Don Bacon led a bipartisan bill to tackle national concerns about foreign farmland ownership through enhanced reporting, data sharing, and review mechanisms.
I led a bipartisan bill that would address national concerns about foreign ownership of America’s farmland by improving reporting, data sharing, and review. https://t.co/dC31eABfgM

Our country is suffering from an affordable housing crisis. This growing challenge must be addressed now - that’s why I’m introducing bipartisan legislation to modernize USDA rural housing development loans to incentivize new construction and bolder housing options in rural Iowa. https://t.co/8R9KZE0WAr
Last March, the U.S. House of Representatives passed my bill to ban China from buying American farmland. I urge the Senate to pass this legislation and President Biden to sign it into law. American farmland belongs to American farmers — not our foreign adversaries. #IA04
As a 4thgeneration farmer, I was proud to join my colleagues in introducing the AFIDA Improvements Act, which will help inform Americans about farmland owned by foreign investors – especially adversaries like China– & the risk it may pose to our food and national security.
