Honda Motor plans to invest over $60 billion in its EV strategy, aiming for electric vehicles to constitute 40% of its global auto sales by 2030. The company intends to produce more than 2 million EVs by that year. Investments will be made in research and development. Additionally, Honda is expanding its risky hydrogen investment with a new fuel cell-powered Class 8 semi truck, which will debut at the ACT Expo next week. The company also plans to invest approximately $12.8 billion in software over the decade up to the fiscal year ending March 2031, as it prepares to join the rapid shift to EVs in markets like China. Honda is the latest of several automakers to apply its fuel-cell tech to big commercial trucks as well as passenger cars.
