China has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its infrastructure, focusing on its high-speed rail network and power substations. The country's 45,000km (28,000-mile) high-speed rail network, the largest in the world, is now operated with the help of AI, marking significant milestones in efficiency and safety. Additionally, in the mountainous province of Yunnan, AI inspections at 621 power substations are being conducted using cameras, drones, and walking robots. These automated inspections can complete tasks in less than 5 minutes, a drastic reduction from the 5 hours required by human workers. Furthermore, AI is also being utilized in quality inspections at the NIO factory, where humanoid robots perform checks on seat belts, door locks, and rear light covers, and precisely place company emblems.
