China and Switzerland have agreed to initiate talks to upgrade their existing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as soon as possible. This decision was reached during a meeting on Monday between China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and Swiss Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce confirmed the agreement in an online statement and emphasized the importance of adhering to free trade principles, opposing protectionism and unilateralism. China's Vice Premier also expressed willingness to deepen and expand economic and trade cooperation with Switzerland.
