China has granted approval to nine automakers, including BYD, NIO, GAC, SAIC, BAIC, FAW, Changan, Hongyan, and Yutong, to start pilot projects for intelligent connected vehicles with advanced autonomous driving features. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and three other departments announced that these companies will carry out trials of Level 3 and Level 4 autonomous driving vehicles on public roads.
