In a series of tweets, MPs and public figures are calling for action against the growing attempt to portray Muslim peace protesters as a dangerous mob and the spread of hatred and racism within the Conservative Party. Owen Jones highlighted the importance of MPs speaking out against these attempts. Jess Phillips commended Sajid Javid for his stance but emphasized the need for broader support from Conservative MPs, urging them not to leave the fight against prejudice to MPs of Muslim heritage alone, to avoid making them targets for further hate. Richard Burgon criticized senior Tory MPs and right-wing newspapers for running campaigns that label peaceful protesters, particularly from the Muslim community, as a threat to democracy, describing the situation as an increasingly dangerous moment. Sunder Katwala acknowledged the efforts of five Conservative MPs, a half dozen Conservative peers, and two AMs for speaking publicly against this issue, highlighting the significance of addressing prejudice within one's own party.
Particular credit to the 5 Conservative MPs, the half a dozen Conservative peers, and two AMs who spoke publicly about this. People only contribute significantly to prejudice boundaries when they apply them inside their own party, not just to opponents https://t.co/GOLIGvGDFg
Senior Tory MPs urged on by powerful right-wing newspapers are now running a campaign to label peaceful protesters, and especially those from the Muslim community, as a threat to our democracy. This is an increasingly dangerous moment. The Prime Minister must speak out. But…
Fair play to Sajid Javid for speaking up but I urge Conservative MPs not just to leave this battle to Conservative MPs of muslim heritage. It will make them targets for further hate and frankly they should be shown they are not alone.

Seriously all the decent Tory MPs and there are plenty, please please speak up against this hatred and racism on your own side. If not at first in public then in private to your leader and if he doesn't act then call it out.
Given there’s a growing attempt to portray Muslim peace protesters as a dangerous mob, it’s so important and commendable MPs speak out like this https://t.co/LRfren50JK
