Recent pilot programs in sub-Saharan Africa utilizing second-generation mosquito bed nets impregnated with two different insecticides have significantly reduced malaria cases and deaths. These innovative nets, part of the New Nets Project supported by the Global Fund and Unitaid, prevented 13 million malaria cases and over 24,000 deaths within three years. Trials in Tanzania showed that these dual-insecticide nets could reduce malaria risk by up to 50%.
