Africa is currently facing a severe cholera crisis exacerbated by extreme weather conditions and a shortage of lifesaving vaccines. Since late 2021, more than 6,000 people have died in southern and East Africa due to a series of cholera outbreaks. The COVID-19 pandemic has further exposed and worsened the existing health inequities in the region, highlighting the urgent need for stronger and more resilient health systems to protect the health of Africa’s population.
