Elon Musk's AI startup, xAI, is reportedly in discussions to raise up to $6 billion from family offices in Hong Kong and sovereign wealth funds in the Middle East, aiming for a $20 billion valuation, according to the Financial Times. Despite these reports, Musk has generally denied claims that xAI is raising funds. In a separate development, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that Tesla Inc. plans to invest $500 million over the next five years to install a Dojo supercomputer at its RiverBend gigafactory in South Buffalo. The supercomputer will process millions of terabytes of data from Tesla's electric vehicles to enhance the safety and engineering of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. Musk emphasized the necessity of a multi-billion dollar annual investment to remain competitive in AI and confirmed Tesla's plans to purchase chips from both AMD and NVIDIA for its AI computing hardware.
