Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has lost an appeal against his 18-month prison sentence for contempt of court. The Court of Appeal dismissed the challenge, upholding the sentence handed down after Robinson admitted to breaching a High Court order by repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee, Jamal Hijazi, who had previously won a libel case against him and was awarded £100,000 in damages. Robinson's legal team argued that his segregation in HMP Woodhill was damaging his mental health, citing his ADHD and complex PTSD, and claiming conditions were making him ill. However, the appeal judges found no evidence that his prison conditions were harsher than anticipated by the sentencing judge, Mr Justice Johnson. The ruling marks Robinson's second court defeat in less than a month, following a failed challenge to his segregation in prison. Robinson was jailed after admitting to 10 breaches of the injunction, including the publication of a film called 'Silenced' and repeating the claims in interviews and at a demonstration in Trafalgar Square. He is currently set to be released on July 26.

"Convicted of Journalism". He was convicted of repeating a falsehood about a Syrian refugee that he pleaded guilty to repeating. Funny kind of journalism Tommy https://t.co/JY85EWOWd4

I don't think it's prison that's making him ill. But Tommy left with just him and his thoughts. Being Tommy would make any decent person sick. Reflection can be a tough when one realises what an ignorant twat they've become. https://t.co/AnObLxom6n

🇬🇧 Tommy Robinson's appeal to shorten his 18-month sentence was denied. He stays in solitary confinement, despite its "demonstrable effect" on his health. The judge claimed “no evidence that the conditions” in which Tommy is being held are “more severe than was anticipated”. https://t.co/a6mb5yFcbf

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson) has lost his appeal against the length of his sentence. We’re in April. Yaxley-Lennon is due to be released on license in July, at the halfway point of the very sentence he’s been appealing.
