Taiwan to Invest $3 Billion (NT$97.75 billion) in AI Sovereignty, Pivoting Economy from Semiconductors with $1 Billion Annually

Taiwan's government has announced plans to invest approximately $3 billion over the next three years to enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and secure what officials describe as 'AI sovereignty.' The investment will focus on the development of AI data centers and other technological upgrades. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to pivot the economy from a reliance on semiconductors to a more diversified technological landscape, with an annual expenditure of $1 billion allocated specifically for AI advancements. Additionally, Taiwan aims to strengthen its cooperation with the United States under the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump, as stated by Taipei's top technology official.
