Sapna Devi, 34, Elopes With 24-Year-Old Rahul, Taking 3.5 Lakh Cash, 5 Lakh Jewelry to Nepal Border

In Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, a woman named Sapna Devi, aged 34, absconded with her 24-year-old prospective son-in-law, Rahul, just before her daughter's scheduled wedding. The pair traveled through several states, including Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Bihar, and reportedly reached the Nepal border before returning to Aligarh and surrendering at the Dadon police station. Sapna Devi alleged that she left due to domestic abuse by her husband, who she claimed was violent and suspicious of her relationship with Rahul. She stated her intention to live with Rahul and denied accusations of taking 3.5 lakh rupees in cash or 5 lakh rupees worth of jewelry from the family home. Rahul also claimed he took Sapna Devi with him because she threatened self-harm due to her situation at home. Family members have expressed outrage over the incident. Rahul's father has disowned him and denied him any share in family property, while Sapna Devi's family has severed ties with her. Rahul's father also alleged that Sapna Devi used witchcraft on his son. Police have recorded the couple's statements and are proceeding with further legal action. It has also emerged that Rahul has previously eloped with other women, as confirmed by both family members and police investigations.
