Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the second Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 12, 2024, at 4:00 PM. He proclaimed the adoption of the 'Delhi Declaration,' which aims to boost aviation safety, security, and sustainability in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference, inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu, also saw Naidu elected as chairman. The event, attended by delegates from 29 countries including ICAO President Salvatore Sciacchitano, focused on key challenges such as infrastructure development, sustainability, and workforce development. Modi highlighted the role of the growing middle class in driving the civil aviation sector and announced plans for advanced air mobility, including air taxis. He also emphasized the sector's role in economic growth and job creation, and announced the planting of 80,000 trees to mark 80 years of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
