Murilo Huff Wins Provisional Custody of Son Léo Amid Dispute With Ruth Moreira Over R$500 Million Inheritance and Child Support

Murilo Huff, the father of Léo, son of the late singer Marília Mendonça, has filed a legal petition seeking unilateral and total custody of his five-year-old child, currently cared for by Marília's mother, Ruth Moreira. Huff stated that his request aims to exercise his paternal role more closely and does not intend to distance the child from his maternal family. He cited undisclosed "serious and alarming situations" as reasons for the custody change and alleged negligence by Ruth, including an incident where Léo, who has diabetes, fell ill and was assisted by Huff. Ruth Moreira has publicly accused Huff of not paying child support, a claim Huff refuted by detailing expenses exceeding R$15,000 for Léo's schooling, health care, recreational activities, and medical treatments.

The dispute reportedly involves concerns about the management and protection of Léo's inheritance, estimated at around R$500 million, and has escalated into a prolonged family conflict with accusations and social media attacks. After a two-hour court hearing where an amicable agreement failed, the judge granted Huff provisional custody, resulting in Léo moving to Huff's residence. Ruth Moreira expressed emotional distress over the decision, describing it as "cruel" for the child and family. Marília Mendonça's brother, João Gustavo, has publicly defended their mother amid online criticism, even deactivating his social media account following an emotional appeal for privacy and respect.
