Murilo Huff Gains Provisional Custody of Son Léo Amid Inheritance Dispute and Family Tensions With Marília Mendonça’s Mother

Murilo Huff, singer and father of Léo, the five-year-old son he had with late Brazilian singer Marília Mendonça, has filed a legal request for unilateral custody of his son. Previously, custody was shared with Dona Ruth Moreira, Marília Mendonça's mother, who had been caring for Léo. Huff cited undisclosed reasons and concerns about the child's well-being, including an incident involving Léo's diabetes, as motivations for seeking full custody. He also expressed worries about the management of Léo's inheritance, estimated at around R$ 500 million, and the family's lifestyle.

Huff has publicly detailed his financial contributions toward Léo's expenses, including school fees, health plan, recreational activities, and medical treatments, countering accusations from Dona Ruth that he had not paid child support. The dispute has caused public and familial tensions, with Dona Ruth accusing Huff of neglecting his financial responsibilities and describing the custody decision as "cruel" to the child and family. Huff obtained provisional custody of Léo in a June 30 hearing after both parties refused to reach an amicable agreement. Léo has since moved to live with Huff. The legal battle has drawn reactions from family members, including Marília Mendonça's brother João Gustavo, who defended his mother amid social media attacks and later deactivated his Instagram account following an emotional plea for privacy. The ongoing custody dispute also involves concerns over the protection of Léo's inheritance and the long-standing familial conflicts reportedly linked to the separation of Marília Mendonça and Murilo Huff. Huff's current partner, Gabriela Versiani, has publicly supported him during the controversy.
