Moraes Lifts Communication Ban, Allowing Valdemar Costa Neto and Jair Bolsonaro to Meet at PL Headquarters in Brasília on Wednesday

Valdemar Costa Neto, president of the Liberal Party (PL), has successfully petitioned the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to revoke the restrictions that prohibited him from communicating with former President Jair Bolsonaro. The decision was made by STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who also lifted other precautionary measures against Costa Neto, including travel bans and the return of his passport and seized luxury watches. Costa Neto and Bolsonaro, who were barred from contact since February 2024 due to an investigation into an alleged coup plot, are set to meet in person at the PL headquarters in Brasília on Wednesday. This follows a brief telephone conversation between the two, marking their first direct communication since the restrictions were imposed. The revocation of these measures comes after the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (PGR) did not include Costa Neto in its formal charges related to the coup plot, despite his earlier indictment by the Federal Police. This decision allows Costa Neto to resume normal party activities and interactions, which had been hampered by the previous restrictions.
