Marco Rubio and Andriy Yermak Meet in Jeddah for Ceasefire Talks Following Ukraine's Largest-Ever Drone Attack

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and a Ukrainian delegation led by Andriy Yermak have commenced high-level talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, aimed at finding a resolution to the ongoing war with Russia. The discussions, which began on March 11, 2025, are part of efforts to explore potential avenues for a ceasefire, with both sides expressing optimism regarding the negotiations. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is also in Saudi Arabia, met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman prior to the talks, although he is not directly participating in the negotiations. The U.S. delegation includes National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and Rubio has emphasized the need for Ukraine to be prepared to make difficult decisions in pursuit of peace. This meeting follows a recent escalation in the conflict, including what has been described as Ukraine's largest-ever drone attack on Russian territory.
