Iraqi PM Mohammed Shia al-Sudani Announces Candidacy for Parliamentary Elections, Emphasizing Stability and Reform Agenda

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has announced his candidacy for the upcoming parliamentary elections, emphasizing the importance of stability in Iraq and the region. In his statements, he expressed a commitment to keeping Iraq away from regional tensions and highlighted that threats to internal peace are unacceptable. Al-Sudani also mentioned that the elections present an opportunity to support a reform agenda for the country. Additionally, he is scheduled to visit Ankara in May for high-level discussions focused on the disarmament of the PKK terrorist organization and enhancing relations between Türkiye and Iraq. He has also called for participation in the upcoming Arab summit in Baghdad next month.
