Colombian Senator and Presidential Candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay in Extremely Critical Condition After Emergency Brain Surgery for Acute Hemorrhage

Colombian senator and presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay has remained in critical condition since being shot in the head during a political rally on June 7, 2025. Hospital reports from Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá indicate that while he initially showed some neurological improvement and hemodynamic stability, his condition has fluctuated, with periods described as critical and stable. On June 16, Uribe Turbay underwent emergency neurosurgery due to an acute intracerebral hemorrhage, which significantly worsened his condition to an "extremely critical" state characterized by persistent cerebral edema and difficult-to-control brain bleeding. Despite multiple surgeries and continuous intensive care, his prognosis remains reserved with maximum severity.

In the days following the emergency surgery, the senator experienced a slight reduction in his critical state and entered a subacute phase, marked by medical procedures including tracheostomy and gastrostomy. However, he continues to require intensive multidisciplinary care and remains under close monitoring in the ICU. The family and the public have been urged to continue prayers for his recovery.
