Colombian senator and presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay has remained in critical condition since being shot in the head during a campaign event on June 7, 2025. The Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá, where Uribe Turbay is hospitalized, has reported that he remains in intensive care with a reserved neurological prognosis and a condition described as "extremely critical" following the latest surgeries. Over the course of his hospitalization, he has undergone at least three emergency brain surgeries, including procedures such as tracheostomy and gastrostomy to manage his critical state.

His wife, María Claudia Tarazona, has communicated that the senator has shown some response to treatment and recently underwent another surgery described as a "small but significant step" toward recovery, though his overall prognosis remains guarded. Authorities have revealed that the attack was orchestrated by a young gunman who did not act alone; investigations have identified at least five accomplices involved in the operation, with four individuals arrested so far. The investigation suggests links to a larger criminal structure, including possible connections to dissident factions of the FARC guerrilla group. Public vigils and widespread prayers for Uribe Turbay's recovery have taken place outside the hospital and across Colombia.
