China is set to open the world's tallest bridge, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, in June 2025. Located in Guizhou Province, the bridge will stand at a height of 625 meters above the Beipan River, surpassing the current record holder, the Millau Viaduct in France, by 289 meters. The bridge, which spans 2,890 meters, is part of China's extensive infrastructure development, particularly in mountainous regions like Guizhou. Other notable bridges in China include the Xingkang Bridge, stretching 1,411 meters across the Dadu River in Sichuan Province, and the Hanjiang Grand Bridge, with a total length of 917.45 meters and two major towers reaching 186.5 meters, located in Shiyan City, Hubei, on the Xi'an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway. The construction of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge began on January 18, 2022, and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2025. The bridge's steel structure weighs approximately 22,000 tons, equivalent to three Eiffel Towers. Once operational, it will reduce the crossing time of the Huajiang Grand Canyon from two hours to just one minute, significantly enhancing regional connectivity and economic development. In India, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited Uttarakhand to review the ongoing construction of the Janasu Tunnel, a key component of the Rishikesh-Karanprayag rail project. Additionally, the Sivok-Rangpo Rail Project in Sikkim has completed the assembly and erection of major bridges, furthering the region's rail connectivity with the rest of the nation.
