Bomb Blast at South Waziristan Mosque Injures JUI-F Leader, Children

A bomb exploded during Friday prayers at the Maulana Abdul Aziz Mosque in Azam Warsak Bazaar, Lower South Waziristan, Pakistan, on March 14, 2025. The blast injured Maulana Abdullah Nadeem, the district chief of the Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), and at least three others, including two children. Police officials believe the explosive device was an improvised explosive device (IED) planted near the Imam's prayer area inside the mosque. Local authorities are investigating the incident, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has denied involvement. South Waziristan has experienced an increase in militant attacks in recent months. Since June 2024, the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) has claimed four attacks in the region, including two targeting members of the JUI-F. The attack highlights the ongoing security challenges in Pakistan's northwestern areas.
