Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek was taken into police custody on 5 July as part of a bribery investigation conducted by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The detention of Böcek follows similar operations the same day against opposition-run municipalities in Adana and Adıyaman, underscoring an expanding nationwide anti-corruption drive. The Antalya Sulh Ceza Court is expected to rule on the arrest petition later today.
