This summer, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will close several Red Line stations for extensive maintenance and construction projects. From June 1 to September 1, the Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, and Silver Spring stations will be completely closed. Additionally, the Takoma station will only be closed for the month of June, reopening on June 30. The closures are part of a broader effort that includes the construction of a new mezzanine at Silver Spring station to facilitate a connection to the Purple Line, as well as general maintenance, repairs, and improvements along the Red Line.
