Ukraine Halts Russian Advance in Sumy Region, Ties Down 50,000 Troops, Commander Syrskyi Says

Ukrainian Armed Forces have fully halted the Russian offensive in the northern Sumy region, stabilizing the frontline near the border with Russia, according to Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. The halt in Russian advances marks the failure of this year’s wave of the so-called "summer offensive," similar to last year's unsuccessful attempt in the Kharkiv region. Syrskyi noted that approximately 50,000 Russian troops are tied down in the area. Ukrainian military sources confirmed that the stable line of combat engagement was secured through coordinated efforts by Ukrainian units. Russia had aimed to create a buffer zone along the border with this offensive, but the advance has now been stopped and the frontline stabilized.
