Israel Releases 10 Gaza Detainees at Kissufim Crossing, Red Cross Facilitates Transfer

The Israeli army released 10 Palestinian detainees from Gaza on April 16, 2025. The detainees were set free at the Israeli-controlled Kissufim (Karim Abu Salem) crossing in eastern Khan Younis city and handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross. Upon release, the individuals arrived in poor health and were transported to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah and the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Younis for medical care. Reports indicate that the detainees had been held since October 2023, with some taken from the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. During their detention, the released Palestinians reportedly endured harsh conditions, including allegations of torture and mistreatment. The total number of Palestinians held by Israel exceeds 9,900, with many still detained in Israeli prisons and military camps.
