Israel Orders Tehran Evacuations as Iran Warns Tel Aviv’s Ramat Gan

Israel’s military on Monday issued an unprecedented series of public evacuation notices for civilians in Tehran, warning that strikes on government-linked military and security sites will continue “in the coming days.” The first alert urged all residents to keep clear of weapons plants, bases and intelligence facilities; a more specific order followed just before midnight for District 7 in the centre of the capital.

The District 7 directive covered an area of about 15.5 km² that is home to roughly 312,000 people. Within an hour the Israel Defense Forces expanded the warning to include the neighbouring Mehran neighbourhood and parts of District 6, telling residents to leave the marked red zones immediately because air operations targeting Iranian regime infrastructure were imminent.

Early Tuesday, Iranian state-affiliated outlets broadcast a reciprocal evacuation alert from the Iranian Armed Forces for the Ramat Gan district of Tel Aviv. The statement instructed civilians to quit the area “within the next few hours,” saying Iranian units would operate there in retaliation for Israeli attacks.

The duelling evacuation orders mark a sharp escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict that began on 13 June, when Israel struck several Iranian nuclear facilities after months of rising tension. Israeli authorities say at least 25 people have been killed inside Israel by subsequent Iranian missile fire, while Iran’s Health Ministry reports more than 430 deaths and 3,500 injuries from Israeli strikes. Both militaries signalled that further actions are imminent.
