India and Pakistan are on the brink of a full-blown war following a series of military actions that have escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. The conflict intensified after India launched 'Operation Sindoor', targeting nine locations in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir and within Pakistan itself, in response to a terrorist attack on April 22 that killed 26 people, mostly Indian tourists, in the Indian-administered part of Kashmir. The international community has expressed deep concern over the escalation, with the United Nations Secretary-General warning of the dangers of a military confrontation between the two nations. The United States, United Arab Emirates, China, and Japan have called for both sides to exercise restraint and de-escalate the situation. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has described India's actions as an 'act of war', while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has postponed his foreign trips due to the crisis.
