On the evening of September 11, 2024, the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), an anti-Taliban group, launched multiple attacks on Taliban security forces in Kabul. The attacks resulted in the deaths of four Taliban intelligence officials and several other casualties, including seven reported casualties. The AFF also claimed responsibility for an attack on a Taliban checkpoint at the Shadian Gate near the Hazrat Ali mausoleum in Balkh province, which resulted in the deaths of two Taliban members and left two others wounded. No AFF fighters were harmed in the incidents. The National Resistance Front (NRF) also claimed responsibility for the targeted attack in Kabul's Diwan Baig area, which killed five Taliban fighters.
