Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has vetoed nearly two dozen pieces of crime and law enforcement legislation, including bills related to expanding credits for inmates and allowing some immigrants to work as police officers. Governor Spencer Cox of Utah vetoed several bills but allowed a psychedelics bill for medical treatment to become law without his signature. Doctors in Utah's major health care systems can now use psilocybin and MDMA to treat patients under a pilot program. The bills vetoed by Cox were largely deemed unnecessary, as he aims to reduce the number of bills passed by lawmakers by roughly 25%.
