Recent sightings of mountain lions in various areas, including Cottonwood Heights and Midvale, have prompted warnings to residents. A couple in Martinez encountered a mountain lion near their home, and a mountain lion was euthanized in Park City after a failed attempt to scare it off. The presence of mountain lions has led to precautions such as keeping students indoors for recess and issuing tips to avoid conflicts with these animals. Additionally, the mating season for coyotes has made them bolder, particularly near the LA river and the hills between the basin and the valley. Stray cats and dogs are also a concern, with a spay and neuter clinic planned to address the issue. The presence and behavior of these animals have raised awareness and prompted measures to ensure the safety of residents in these areas.

Known by a variety of names – cougars, pumas, panthers – mountain lions are graceful and powerful. Weighing up to 200 pounds, they can leap as high as 18 feet vertically and can cover 40 feet horizontally in one bound. Photo by Mark Thonhoff / @BLMWyoming https://t.co/6Kpcfng3ki

#Midvale 8500 S 300 W. In the past few hours I have seen a couple posts of a #MountainLion in the middle of #Midvale. This pic was posted online showing the #MountainLion in a residents yard. Keep your head on a swivel if you are in that area. https://t.co/tIS3mVRfjw
It’s coyote mating season. I’ve been seeing dozens of coyotes out at night every night tryna get some. Don’t fux with them. They’re typically bolder this time of year. I see them near the LA river on the valley side and the hills in between the basin and the valley.

A stray dog close to my house gave birth to a litter, unfortunately all but 2 didn’t make it. There’s a lovely story here: First few days I saw the neighbors put together makeshift beds with cardboard boxes and old clothes, and takeout containers repurposed as food and water… https://t.co/fa5Q9X4ina
