President Donald Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” a tax-and-spending package central to his legislative agenda, stalled in the House of Representatives on Thursday after Republican Thomas Massie of Kentucky withdrew his support and voted against the measure.

Massie was the only Republican to break ranks, according to lawmakers present for the vote. His opposition deprived GOP leaders of the narrow margin they needed to move the bill forward, and aides said the legislation is now unlikely to advance in its current form.
