House Republicans Pass 'One Big Beautiful Bill' Promising More ICE Agents, Coast Guard Funding and 1 Million Deportations a Year

House Republicans have passed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a sweeping immigration and border-security package backed by President Donald Trump and GOP leaders.

The legislation steers a “historic” funding increase to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection, authorizes the Coast Guard to expand interdictions of migrants and narcotics, and allows the hiring of additional federal agents. Supporters, including Rep. David Kustoff, say the measure is designed to enable at least 1 million deportations each year.

GOP lawmakers, led by Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise, argue the bill is needed to maintain order after recent unrest in Los Angeles they link to undocumented immigrants. Scalise said every House Democrat voted against the measure, underscoring partisan divisions on border policy.

Senate Republicans such as Sen. Markwayne Mullin are pressing the chamber to take up the bill quickly. The White House says the package will help “restore the American Dream,” and passage in the Senate would send the legislation to Trump’s desk for signature.
