Biden Slams Trump Budget Bill After Narrow House Passage

The U.S. House of Representatives approved President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax-cut and spending bill on Thursday in a narrow 218–214 vote, sending the legislation to the White House for signature. Two Republicans joined all Democrats in opposing the measure, which the administration says will restore “fiscal sanity.” The signing ceremony is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, July 4.

Former President Joe Biden sharply criticized the bill, calling it “reckless” and “cruel.” In a statement, Biden said the package would slash Medicaid, threaten deep reductions to Medicare, close rural hospitals and trim food assistance for veterans and seniors, while driving up energy costs. He warned the plan could swell the federal deficit by about $4 trillion, arguing that working Americans would pay the price for what he described as a large tax break for billionaires.
