Judge Denies Bail for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs After Mixed Verdict

A federal judge on Wednesday refused to release Sean “Diddy” Combs on bond, ordering the hip-hop mogul to remain at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while he awaits sentencing for prostitution-related convictions. The ruling came hours after a jury returned a mixed verdict in the closely watched federal trial.

Combs, 55, was found guilty on two counts of transporting people across state lines to engage in prostitution, violations of the Mann Act that each carry up to 10 years in prison. The same jury acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges that could have resulted in a life sentence.

U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian rejected a proposed $1 million bail package, citing mandatory detention rules for violent Mann Act offenses and what he called Combs’ “propensity for violence,” highlighted by security-camera footage of a 2016 assault on then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Prosecutors also argued Combs could pose a threat to witnesses and had the resources to flee.

Sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 3 2025 at 10 a.m. ET. Prosecutors said federal guidelines point to a term of roughly four to five years, while the defence contends the range is closer to two; the statutory maximum is 20 years. Combs, who has been jailed since his September 2024 arrest, will receive credit for time already served.
