Two U.S. lawmakers—Democrat Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey and Republican Mike Lawler of New York—have introduced the “Bunker Buster Act,” a bipartisan bill that would authorize President Donald Trump to transfer B-2 stealth bombers and 30,000-pound GBU-57 bunker-buster bombs to Israel if Iran is determined to be resuming work on a nuclear weapon.

The measure directs the president to ensure Israel is “prepared for all contingencies” should Tehran restart enrichment, effectively giving Washington’s closest Middle-East ally access to capabilities the United States has never before shared. The U.S. Air Force operates only 19 B-2s, and the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator is the Pentagon’s largest conventional munition, designed to destroy deeply buried targets.

The proposal follows U.S. and Israeli strikes last week that damaged Iran’s Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities. International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi has since warned that Iran could restore limited enrichment activity within months. Lawler said the bill "gives the President the authority to equip Israel with the tools and training they need to deter Tehran," while Gottheimer argued Iran “can never have a nuclear weapon.”
