Ukraine Accepts US Ceasefire Proposal in Saudi Talks; US to Resume Aid, Awaits Russia's Response

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Ukraine has accepted a proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire, contingent on Russia's acceptance. The proposal was made during talks in Saudi Arabia between the US and Ukraine, aimed at ending the ongoing conflict. Rubio stated that the US would now present the ceasefire offer to Russia, emphasizing that 'the ball is now in their court.' This move comes after a period of strained relations between the US and Ukraine, following a contentious meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In response, the US has agreed to resume military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine. The ceasefire proposal includes halting missile, drone, and bomb attacks across the entire frontline and in the Black Sea. Rubio expressed hope that Russia would reciprocate Ukraine's positive step towards peace. President Trump indicated he would speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days to discuss the ceasefire.
