This statement was made during his visit to the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Russia's Victory Day. Kim emphasized that North Korea's involvement in the conflict was just and within its sovereign rights, calling the soldiers who fought in the Kursk region 'heroes' and 'representatives of the nation's honor.' He also warned that North Korea would not hesitate to use military force if the United States continues its military provocations against Russia. The North Korean leader's remarks come in the context of a strengthening military alliance between North Korea and Russia, highlighted by a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty signed last year between Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin. This treaty has led to the deployment of over 10,000 North Korean troops and weapons to Russia.
