McGregor Eyes Comeback at Trump-Backed White House UFC Event

Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor said he wants his first bout in more than four years to take place at the Ultimate Fighting Championship event President Donald Trump plans to stage on the White House grounds in 2026. “I would be honoured—count me in,” McGregor wrote in a direct message to UFC Chief Executive Officer Dana White, according to multiple MMA outlets.

White publicly endorsed the proposal, saying he “loves” the idea of having McGregor headline the card. The bout would mark McGregor’s return to competition after suffering a leg fracture in his most recent fight in July 2021.

Trump announced the White House event during a rally in Iowa on 4 July, describing it as part of a series of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. If held, it would be the first major professional sporting event on the presidential grounds.
