McConaughey Urges Aid After Texas Hill Country Floods Kill at Least 70

Oscar-winning actor and Texas native Matthew McConaughey has issued a public appeal for donations and other assistance to communities hit by the catastrophic floods that swept through the Texas Hill Country over the Fourth of July weekend.
The flooding, described by state authorities as some of the worst in decades, has killed at least 70 people and left about 41 others unaccounted for. Thousands of residents remain displaced as emergency crews continue search-and-rescue operations along the Guadalupe River and surrounding areas.
In a statement posted on social media late Sunday, McConaughey said “countless Texans are hurting—inside and out,” and urged the public to “lend a helping hand where and how you can.” He added that recovery would be a “long road ahead” but expressed confidence in what he called the resilience and generosity of Texans.
Several local businesses and sports franchises—including the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Texans, grocery chain H-E-B and jeweler Kendra Scott—have already pledged financial support for relief efforts. State and federal agencies are coordinating with nonprofit groups to provide temporary shelter, food supplies and infrastructure repairs.
