Liver King Arrested Over Joe Rogan Threats, Released on $20,000 Bond

Social-media fitness personality Brian Johnson, widely known as “Liver King,” was arrested Tuesday evening at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, Texas, after posting a series of Instagram videos in which he challenged podcaster Joe Rogan to a fight. Detectives with the Austin Police Department said Johnson was traveling to the city while continuing to issue threats online, leading to a warrant for a Class B misdemeanor charge of making a terroristic threat.

According to police, Rogan told investigators he had never interacted with Johnson and viewed the posts as threatening. Johnson, 47, was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Travis County Jail.

Court records show Johnson posted a $20,000 bond and was released the following day. Release conditions require him to stay at least 200 yards from Rogan and his family, refrain from any contact, wear an ankle monitor and complete a mental-health evaluation within one week. The investigation remains active.

Johnson built a large following by promoting a raw-meat “ancestral” diet and is the subject of a recent Netflix documentary. He previously faced scrutiny for admitting steroid use after initially denying it, a controversy Rogan had discussed on his podcast.
