17 Antifa Militants Federally Charged After Arson Attack on Portland ICE Facility; Resident Confronts Noise; Federal Tear Gas Deployed; Texas Officer Shot

In Portland, Oregon, Antifa militants have engaged in a sustained and violent insurrection targeting the local Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility since mid-June 2025. The group has repeatedly attempted to attack and burn down the building, setting up an encampment nearby to recruit rioters and distribute riot gear such as gas masks and shields. Federal officers have responded with targeted arrests, charging at least 17 Antifa militants federally for offenses related to the attacks. On July 4, Antifa rioters launched an arson attack on the ICE facility, prompting federal officers to deploy tear gas and crowd control munitions to disperse the crowd.

The facility has been boarded up and fenced off due to the ongoing violence. Residents living near the ICE building have reported being terrorized by the nightly protests, which include loud music and noise that disrupts sleep. A disabled Black Portland resident gained attention after confronting Antifa militants, accusing them of being worse than ICE for disturbing the community. Portland police have largely refrained from intervening in the protests, labeling them peaceful despite residents' complaints. Separately, in Alvarado, Texas, an officer was shot in the neck outside an ICE detention center during a protest-related incident involving masked extremists. Eight suspects wearing body armor were arrested in connection with the shooting and related vandalism. Federal authorities also raided an Antifa safehouse in Portland linked to the ongoing insurrection. The city and state officials have not publicly condemned the violent actions by Antifa militants at the ICE facility.
