Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed readiness to engage in direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the ongoing war, which has lasted nearly three years. In an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, Zelensky stated that he would sit at the negotiating table with Putin if it were the only way to achieve peace and prevent further loss of Ukrainian lives. He emphasized that his personal feelings toward Putin are secondary to securing peace for Ukraine, noting that he considers Putin an enemy. Zelensky also mentioned the need for other participants, including Europe, to be present at the negotiations, without specifying who they would be. This statement marks a shift from Zelensky's previous stance, as he had previously ruled out direct negotiations with Moscow while Putin remains in power. Zelensky reported that Ukraine has suffered 45,100 deaths and 390,000 wounded, while estimating Russian losses at around 350,000 killed and between 600,000 to 700,000 wounded.
