Ukraine and the Netherlands have signed a long-term bilateral security pact, marking the seventh such agreement Kyiv has entered into recently. The 10-year agreement includes a 24-hour emergency response mechanism in the event of repeated military aggression against Ukraine. The Netherlands has committed to providing Ukraine with €2 billion in military assistance, which encompasses funding for 800,000 artillery shells to bolster Ukraine's defenses against Russia. Additionally, the Dutch government will supply Ukraine with 22 vessels, including 14 rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIBs), 8 militarized river patrol boats, and 3 CB-90 fast armored assault boats, to enhance Ukraine's river flotilla on the Dnipro. The Netherlands has also expressed its readiness to send soldiers to participate in the conflict in Ukraine and supports Ukraine's future membership in the EU and NATO. This support comes as Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kharkiv, where they visited wounded Ukrainian defenders and discussed the security situation. Zelensky highlighted the importance of pushing Russian troops to a greater distance to defend Kharkiv effectively and acknowledged the Netherlands' active assistance with air defense, including the expected arrival of F-16 fighter jets in Ukraine's skies this year.
