Ukraine Downs Majority of 52 Russian Shahed Drones Over Kyiv and Heartland

Russia carried out one of its largest drone raids on Ukraine in weeks on the evening of 3 July, sending waves of Iranian-designed Shahed (Geran-2) unmanned aircraft toward Kyiv and several central regions, according to Ukrainian officials.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia launched 52 drones from multiple directions, including Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. Air-defence units and electronic-warfare teams destroyed 40 of them, shooting down 22 and jamming another 18.
Air-raid sirens sounded for hours in the capital as residents took shelter in metro stations. Explosions were reported in Kyiv and in the regions of Poltava, Cherkasy, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk as air defences engaged the incoming drones. Authorities had not reported casualties or major damage at the time of publication.
